A few weeks ago I bought this animal skull from Ebay and the idea was to silver leaf the head and leave the horns in its natural state. Finally, today I had the chance to start this project and I think it's turning out great. It's not finished so this is just a sneak peak :)

I love what you did with the longhorn. You said you buffed it, how did you do that? I tried silver leafing a table and really wasn't happy with the way it turned out. I think if I try to buff it I might like it more. Can you tell me how you buffed it?

ReplyDeleteAs you can see on the last picture, there are tiny flakes still on the skull. I gently buffed those away with a soft, dry cloth to make the whole thing smooth. For a table I would finish it with a clear coat of varnish for a good finish.
